Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

CARMA Hub aims to deliver a thriving inclusive research ecosystem that inspires a diverse future biomanufacturing community. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion underpins our day-to-day activities; in effect we work towards our ecosystem being the model for inclusive world-leading research, with a focus on early career researcher development and building upon best practice regardless of sector. The transdisciplinary skills and personal and professional development (PPD) programme is structured to prepare and develop all the academic researchers to work in a diverse and inclusive creative industry. The PPD programme includes career development, and our core academic team is the ideal combination of experienced and early career academics for whom CARMA can act not only as a training platform, from networking to the administration of a major EPSRC grant, but also for long-running research activity development.

Sustainability

We commit to the sustainability programme LEAF, pioneered by UCL, for our labs at the University of Bath and UCL achieving silver accreditation at three of our labs in Bath and gold at our UCL labs as of Q1 2026. Our labs at Aberystwyth University are working towards Green Lab certification. In 2026 a group from CARMA joined to form a Green Impact team, a globally recognised sustainability engagement programme looking at how we can reduce environmental impact and make meaningful progress in our work on themes such as travel, procurement and energy. This sustainability is also critical to building and maintaining an enduring Cell Ag world-leading ecosystem.
